who remain into zombies and giving the others superhuman senses."

Dearly, Departed. / Habel, Lia. (2011)
In the year 2195 when society is technologically advanced but follows the social mores of Victorian England, recently orphaned Nora Dearly is left at the mercy of her domineering, social-climbing aunt, until she is nearly kidnapped by zombies and falls in with a group of mysterious, black-clad commandos

Z / Michael Thomas Ford. (2010)
Summary: Josh is by far the best zombie Torcher around. At least, he is in his virtual-reality zombie-hunting game. Zombies haven't existed in the real world in more than 15 years, and the battle to defeat the devastating zombie epidemic is now the stuff of history lessons. Or so it seems. When Josh accepts a coveted invitation to join an underground gaming league in the dark, forgotten, tunnels of the city, he soon realises that hunting zombies is not all fun and games. Real blood is spilling, members of the team are disappearing, and the zombies in the game are acting strange. And then there's the matter of a mysterious drug called Z.

World War Z : an oral history of the Zombie War / Max Brooks. (2006)
Summary: An account of the decade-long conflict between humankind and hordes of the predatory undead is told from the perspective of dozens of survivors who describe in their own words the epic human battle for survival.

There is a trilogy by Mira Grant, the first book is called Feed and would certainly be suitable for level 2. Very clever way of looking at it.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan is a good example of the genre.

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion.... post-apocalyptic zombie romance! (also an entertaining read)
The Passage by Justin Cronin isn’t post-apocalyptic zombies, but it is vampires and is absolutely excellent and if he broadens his theme to dealing with post-apocalyptic events then this, plus The Road by Cormac McCarthy would both fit.

John dies at the end by David Wong, though apparently more demons..

Also maybe the movie Shaun of the Dead - zombies infect London...

Rot and Ruin by Jonathan Maberry is one of the better zombie books I have read recently. It has a sequel, Dust and decay.

A great collection of short stories just called Zombies, anthology of the undead, (Also published as The new dead: a zombie anthology) / Golden, Christopher

Night of the Living Trekkies by Kevin David Anderson. There's a book trailer on youtube.
A very funny zombie book. Loads of Star Trek references, but my 12-year-old liked it and he doesn't know much about Star Trek. It's adult fiction but no sex, only zombie violence.

This is not a test by Courtney Summers, 2012. Blurb reads: Barricaded in Cortege High with five other teens while zombies try to get in, Sloane Price observes her fellow captives become more unpredictable and violent as time passes althought they each have much more reason to live than she has.
